Make a real impact on workplace health at Michelin
Protecting people is just as important as producing world class products. We’re looking for an experienced Occupational Hygiene & SHE Technician to play a key role in protecting employee health by identifying, assessing and controlling occupational health risks at our Stoke on Trent manufacturing site.
This is a hands on, site based role with strong collaboration across operations and the SHE team and would suit someone who already understands industrial environments and wants to apply their expertise where it truly matters.
What you’ll be doing
You’ll take ownership of occupational hygiene activities on site, working in partnership with operations and the wider SHE team to ensure risks are understood, controlled and continuously improved.
This includes:
Leading and maintaining hygiene risk assessments across chemical, physical and biological hazards
Monitoring occupational exposures such as noise, vibration, air quality, EMF and chemicals
Providing expert input during process or equipment changes to ensure safe, hygienic design
Supporting incident investigations, audits and regulatory compliance activities
Contributing to safety, environmental and wider SHE activities where required
This role suits someone who enjoys being visible on the shop floor, working with others to embed good practice and turn data into practical action.
Who we’re looking for
This role is suited to professionals with established occupational hygiene experience in an operational or manufacturing environment.
You’ll bring:
BOHS modules (W501, W503, W507) or be actively working towards higher professional recognition
Working knowledge of UK health and safety legislation
Experience applying COSHH principles beyond desk‑based assessment
Proven experience in occupational hygiene and health & safety within an operational or industrial setting
Confidence interpreting exposure data and producing clear, credible reports
Strong IT skills, particularly Microsoft 365 and Excel
Knowledge of ISO 45001 (ISO 14001 is a plus)
Just as important is your approach: organised, proactive, detail‑focused and comfortable collaborating with others, while also working independently when required.
Why Michelin?
You’ll be joining a global organisation with a strong commitment to safety, health and sustainability; and a site where your expertise will be genuinely valued and used.
What’s in it for you?
