Red Seal Machinist

Key Responsibilities 

• Safely operate manual machining equipment including lathes, mills, and electric discharge machines (EDM) 

• Operate supporting shop equipment such as surface grinders, drill presses, and saws 

• Manufacture, modify, and repair parts from detail drawings, sketches, or sample components 

• Interpret mechanical drawings, blueprints, and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) 

• Perform machine setup, fixturing, alignment, and datum establishment 

• Use EDM processes to manufacture precision features in hardened or difficult‑to‑machine materials 

• Inspect finished parts using precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, indicators, and gauges 

• Apply mathematical calculations including algebra, geometry, and trigonometry related to machining 

• Identify material types, metal properties, and basic heat treatment considerations 

• Troubleshoot machining and EDM issues to achieve required quality and tolerance 

• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in compliance with Michelin safety standards 

• Support maintenance, reliability, and production teams to reduce equipment downtime 

• Participate in continuous improvement activities
