Michelin North America (Canada) Inc., which employs over 3,500 people and operates three tire manufacturing facilities in Nova Scotia, is seeking a Tire Industrialization Engineer to join its operations team in Granton, Nova Scotia.

The Tire Industrialization Engineer’s mission is prepare new tire designs for mass production at the site that meet product and industrial performances for Original Equipment (OE) and Replacement markets. The position offers a balance of technical design and manufacturing, with progressive levels of responsibilities. Initial training will include formal classes and on-the-job mentoring under an experienced engineer.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • Translating tire designs into manufacturing specifications;
  • Leading the Quality Planning for assigned tires and projects to guarantee conformation to the industrial performance targets during the manufacturing process;
  • Industrializing the assigned tires while respecting the target timing, optimizing the product and process compatibility, and confirming with the industrial performance targets;
  • Evaluating the prototype tire build results for conformance to design and manufacturing criteria; and
  • Conducting root cause analysis and providing technical support to the factory to ensure continual improvement of assigned tires.

REQUIREMENTS FOR THIS POSITION INCLUDE:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Chemical, or Electrical Engineering, or Science, Math, or Statistics, or another equivalent degree, or 3-5 years of equivalent work experience;
  • Previous CAD experience (CATIA) is helpful; and
  • A background in statistical analysis is beneficial, but not required.

The successful candidate should be able to demonstrate their ability to meet project milestones based on a specific timeline for multiple projects simultaneously. They must also possess the ability to communicate and connect with all levels of the organization from shop floor operations personnel to senior plant management. Proven leadership experience is also an asset.
